Bio

Maestro Jeffrey Eckstein has been hailed as a conductor who encourages musicians to meet their potential and beyond. Eckstein is consistently invited to return as a guest conductor to all of his engagements, as he develops unmatchable rapport with singers and musicians. 

The Maestro has been a frequent Guest Conductor with the Austin Symphony since 2003, and with Miami Lyric Opera since 2008, most recently conducting productions of Tosca, Carmen, Madama Butterfly,L'Amico Fritz, Cavalleria Rusticana, and Suor Angelica. Last season he conducted the Guatemalan National Theatre's very first Opera Gala concert, and also gave a masterclass at the National Conservatory in Guatemala City.

Eckstein also enjoys working on contemporary projects. In late 2007 he visited the world renowned Abbey Road Studios to record composer Christopher Tin's music with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. This album won a Grammy. Maestro Eckstein has been a supporter of new opera projects, the latest of which can be heard on recently released CD The Rival Queens by composer Matthew Pittsinger. He has embarked on a new project called Opera Reads to give aspiring singers a chance to sing through operas.

Maestro Eckstein has also worked on the Musical Theatre stage as Musical Director for Casa Mañana’s production of Summer of '42 starring Rachel York. He has worked with Roundabout Theatre in New York on a Broadway workshop of The Gondoliers.

Maestro Eckstein holds a Bachelor's degree in both Music and Business Management from Binghamton University and a Master's degree in Orchestral Conducting from San Diego State University.
